Cyprus

 The Commonwealth of Nations is an association created to promote the economical and cultural improvement of these countries. One country that is inside of this group is Cyprus.

At first, in part I have chosen it because it is very similar to Spain, where I live, but there are another interesting facts of this country that has made to me to choose it. The climate is very similar to Spain, in summer it is hot and soft cold in winter. It has been a British colone a lot of time, but in 1960 became independent. That explains why in some zones of Cyprus the people talk in english, but the most languages that are spoken are Turkish and Greek. Almost one year after it independence from the United Kingdom, Cyprus became member of the Commonwealth of Nations, the 13th of March of 1961. 

Cyprus is a country that I have on my wish list, because it has a big world heritage too, like other countries. I would like to go in a big part because its gastronomy, that is similar to Spain's one, the mediterranean diet. Also because the beaches that this country has, that are a lot because it is an island.

Every four years, it is celebrated the Commonwealth Games, a multi-sport event that participates athletes that represent their country, which has to belong to the Commonwealth of Nations. Cyprus always participates on this event. They have 64 medals, in 46 years that they have been participating on this event. Mostly of Cyprus athletes, stand out in sports like gymnastics, athletics and weightlifting. In the recent Commonwealth Games, Cyprus won eleven medals, standing out in the sports that I named before. However, the most practise sports in this country are not any of them, it is football, although they are not even good. But I am sure that they are going to improve a lot in football, because now they are being more profesional with this sport, and they have created the profesional Cyprus league. I am sure that from Cyprus is going to come a big footballer that will be like a legend in his country.
